THE ASTYPALEA FESTIVAL

Each time I think of the start of Astypalea Festival, its way from 2000 up to, the progress and positive that gained the place, the persons, but also we all found themselves there with the attribute of friend, "no-fee participating", the collaborator or simply the visitor, I feel joy and gratitude. Gratitude for all that they helped and help this beautiful small island in the middle of Aegean to show its culture and its charms and big joy because in this place were not absent and remain live the biggest virtues of Greeks - hospitality, unselfishness, social sensitivity, volunteerism.

I remind that all the artists that participate in these Festival all years, they contribute absolutely voluntarily and no-fee in the effort of wronged regional Greece to find its face to claim the right of its existence in the rocks of the urbanism and the straight government owned but, unfortunately, and social and economic perception of Greece of "two speeds".

This year they honour with their presence our Festival and we thank them:

DIONYSSIS TSAKNIS, FOIVOS DELIVORIAS, MANOLIS FAMELOS, NIKOS ZIOGALAS, SOKRATIS MALAMAS, TANIA TSANAKLIDOY AND KOSTAS THOMAIDIS WITH THE NIGHT CHIRD ORCHESTRA of THE MUNICIPALITY OF PATRAS IN A MUSICAL HOMMAGE IN MANOS HATZIDAKIS (THIS YEAR THAT CLOSES TEN YEAR FROM THEN THAT LEFT US CLOSELY), ANOGIANOS "KONTYLIERIS" VASILIS SKOYLAS AND - HONORARY FOR OUR CYPRUS - COMPOSER VASOS ARGYRIDIS FROM LEMESOS, ACQUAINTANCE MAINLY FROM HIS CINEMATOGRAPHIC MUSICS IN THE FILMS OF ANDREA PANTZI "SLAUGHTER OF KOKORAS" AND "THE TAMA". FOR FIRST TIME ALSO THIS YEAR WE ENTERTAIN AN IMPORTANT COMPANY OF THEATRE WITH BIG DELIVERY IN CHILDREN'S THEATRE, "GENIKI THEAMATON" THAT IT WILL PRESENT IN ASTYPALEA THE THEATRICAL "IRAKLIS THE FOUNDER OF OLYMPIC FIGHTS" IN DIRECTION OF KARMEN ROYGGERI.

With the polite sponsoring of the Municipality of Saint Barbara our Conservatoire functions, as also our wintry and aestival cinema.
We thank our sponsors of communication and the cultural organism "Dodekanissiaki Avra".

Honorary citizens of Astypalea have been nominated: Thanasis Veggos (2001), Thanos Mjkroytsikos (2002) and Manos Eleftherioy (2003).


We are waiting for you in Astypalea, to be known closely and to be shared precious experiences of entertainment, interruptions and emotion, "dancing and singing".
